No Saturday Golf. No golf matches will be played at tho Opotiki golf links on Saturday next, on account of tho representative football to be played qn that day. Funds for Boy Scouts. The evening given on July 2Sth. by the physical fitness girls to aid local Scouts to attend the jamboree, resulted in £7 being raised for the troop. ff Temperatures. North Island temperatures at 9 o’clock yesterday morning were : Cape Maria Yan Diemen and Auckland 51, Tiritiri 53, Napier 53, Gisborne 51; Tanranga 49, Opotiki and Wellington 47. Cape Palliser 45 and Cape Campbell 43. Football Team’s Success. The Woodlands football team recently travelled to Rotorua to play the Celtic team, the result being a win for Woodlands, the iscores being 9—G. Tho game is stated to have been a very exciting one, and proved to be a bard match throughout. Gun Club’s Grounds. An extract from the New Zealand Fishing and Shooting Gazette, reads as follows; “The Opotiki Rod: and Gun Chili’s grounds at Hukuwai hill, situated on a plateau overlooking fruitful, fertile farms, and the wonder!ul Ray of Plenty coast line, are probably unsurpassed in New Zealand.’’ No Sheds or Garages. The tenants of the State bouses in Waipukurau are becoming perturbed because, though they have been in possession for eight months, they are still without sheds or garages. They are all paying full rents based on a schedule in which the shells and garages are included. Heavy Potato Plantings. All gardeners, from the most modest, amateur to.the largest supplier of tin- market, appear to be seeking profit from tlu> present shortage of potatoes. Planting is going on all over the North Island, and the demand for seed has been keen ior the lastmonth. Tip Top Club. . The Tip Top Club will hold a gala dance at Woodlands Hall oil Friday night. In addition to streamers, confetti, monte carlo dances, and a statue waltz, there will be a fox trot competition, the winning couple to be presented with a handsome prize. Numerous vocal and musical items will be rendered between dances as well as demonstrations of tap dancing and the new sensational dance the - “Park .Parade”.
