Basketball. A representative basketball match will be played at Gisborne to-morrow, when the Poverty Bay B team-will meet the Opotiki representatives in a return contest. Car .Ltia jes Read. Evening Cancelled. The Fathers’ and Sons’ evening, to have been held on Monday night in connection with the Young Farmers’ Club has been unavoidably cancelled, and the usual monthly meeting of the club will be held instead. Br.er Prices Increase. Draught bottle beer which has been sold in the' past at l/(ia bottle in Opotiki, has been increased to I /if. Df'inks consumed over the counter remain at the same price as in the past. The increase has become necessary owing to the new duty which was recently placed on beer. Boxing. Boxing enthusiasts are reminded of the big boxing tournament to be held to-night iu the Regent Mall. The programme is an exceptionally good one and the association feel eonjident that patrons will have a very good evening’s entertainment. Semple, of the Transport Department. Mr. Semple is a sou of the Mon. R. Semple. Minister of Public Works. Since leaving Palmerston North the piane has visited, Hawora. New Plymouth, Auckland.
