IRRIGATION IN CANTERBURY Amazing results of the increased yield and carrying capacity from irrigation have been obtained on demonstration areas on tile Levels plain and AVinelimore. Canterbury. ALany instances are officially quoted of increases from four to tenfold of iriigated over non-irrigatedl pastures, the results to date fully confirming tlio careful estimates which were made of the -prospects of irrigation for Canterbury. The claims of the Alinistcr of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, that, when fully irrigated, Canterbury will easily carry 15,000,000 sheep, are supported by the: actual results this StOiiS—on on an area of 36 acres at Winchmore, divided into three paddocks.
