SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTION
In this issue appears an intimation from the Commissioner of Taxes that .an l ''instalment of the registration fee became due on Ist. August, and that .mi the same date there also fell due •the second instalment of the Social Security charge on income other than .salary or wages derived during the year ended 3Lst. March, 1939. Payment may lie tendered at any Money Order Office. The quarterly registration fed is payable by all male persons of twenty years of - ager or over. . failure to pay renders defaulters liable, on summary conviction to a fine of £‘o. In addition. a penalty of sixpence per- month .automatically accrues if payment is not made within one month of the due ■date. Any employer who employs for mip'e than seven days a person who is more than one mouth in arrear with .an instalment of the registration fee, is liable on summary conviction to a line of C'JU. Employers may deduct the amount of any overdue registration fees from the wages payable to employees. The Social Security charge on income other than salary or wages is payable at the rate of one shilling in the pound, by all persons male and female. who have attained the age of sixteen years, other than those in r«--ceipt of a war pension in respect of total disablement. A penalty ol 10 per cent, accrues on the amount ol juiv instalment not paid within one month ol the due date. further information may be obtained at any Money Order Office, or from the Commissioner of Taxes, Land and' .Income Tax- Wellington, C. 3.
