Opotiki Rugby fans will view with interest the representative fixture to be played on the reserve to-morrow afternoon. SHIELD AIATOM TO-MORROW The Whakatane representatives will meet 'l’anranga (holders) in a challenge match for tlu* Apanui Shield at Tauranga to-morrow. The opinion is held by many Opotiki enthusiasts that tin- Whakatane team will have mine than an even chance of lifting the shield, and the outcome of this match will he awaited 1 with interest. A rrangennuits lor the representative match against Waikchu Rugby Sub-L’nion were finalised, it was resolved that tin* junior game would be commenced at 1.1-i p.m. Gadges for the winning team in each grade ale to be purchased and the secretary was instructed to communicate with engraving linns. The secretary was also instructed to make inquiries regarding the Shalloon Shield match fur juniors to be held shortly and to endeavour to ascertain the date of the match. Tin- l niou’s part in the Centennial Celebrations was discussed and it aas decided as a recommendation to next season’s committee that a seveu-a-sidc f< urnaipent be held on the second !msl Saturday in April. The competitions would be open to teams throughout, the Gay. The secretary was instructed to express the Tnion's congratulations in the* winners of the matches on Saturday last. A letter of appreciation ami congratulations was received from the* soeietary of the Wairoa Rugby Snb-l nion concerning the visit ol a local team, 'the secretary was instructed to pass the letter on to the club secretary.
