WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
MEETINCT AT WOODLANDS The Woodlands Women’s Institute met on Tuesday, when about sixteen members of the Opotiki Momen s Institute attended and provided a very entertaining programme. Alter business had been dealt with. Airs. Al. Thompson took the chair and the programme opened with the institute song, followed! by tlie creed. The roll call, ‘•Children’s Funny Sayings.” was particularly well answered with many amusing little stories of the young mind. Airs. Thompson ccmtrib.uted a delightful and authentic story of Queen Mary’s interest in social welfare work, and of her wonderful thoughtfulness of people. A greatly appreciated item was two songs sung by Miss V. Thompson with Airs. Holmes as accompanist. A “Yes and No” game was a test for quick thinking. Airs. Ash being the winner. Airs. Rowland exhibited a dainty toilet cape and thoughtfully provided a pattern of same, while Mrs. Fox ably demonstrated daisy work. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the Woodlands members, and then an advertisement competition was won by Airs. E. Thompson. A musical parcel was won by Airs. S Alaxwell. The monthly competitions were judged by the visitors. Airs. Mulhern gaining first for wholemeal scones, and Airs. Price first for best parsnip. Airs.-Noble on behalf of the Woodlands Women's Institute thanked the Opotiki members for the excellent programme they had provided and a delightful afternoon closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
