It has been stated that the planes have been little mere than' 500 feet up. . People in Opotiki are quite used to the planes flying over the town at about a height of 300 feet. The planes often fly for Jong distances at a low altitude, but tJio planes are so reliable that nobody takes any notice of low-flying on the passenger routes. It only takes a matter of seconds to pass over the small towns in the Hay of Plenty, and even in Gisborne the planes fly comparatively low, this being unavoidable owing to the aerodrome- being situated close to the borough as if the.case in Opotiki.
