Low-flying Planes. 'l'lie Whakatanei Hern-on has lmule passing reference tm the height at which planes have been flying over the Whakatane borough on. the GislfnneAudclahcl service. It has been stated that the planes have been little mere than' 500 feet up. . People in Opotiki are quite used to the planes flying over the town at about a height of 300 feet. The planes often fly for Jong distances at a low altitude, but tJio planes are so reliable that nobody takes any notice of low-flying on the passenger routes. It only takes a matter of seconds to pass over the small towns in the Hay of Plenty, and even in Gisborne the planes fly comparatively low, this being unavoidable owing to the aerodrome- being situated close to the borough as if the.case in Opotiki.
