LOVELI VAZEY A picturesque wedding of widespri u<i interest- was solemnised at ,Si. .John’s Presbyterian Church, on Wednesday, when Eileen Alma, eldest daughter of the late Air. and -Mrs. H. JO. Va/eyi, of Woodlands, Opotiki, was unitedl in the holy bonds of matrimony t-o Charles George, sum of Airs, and the late Air. C. Lovell. Rev. A. ('. Hampton officiated and Airs. J. G. Murray, presided at the organ. The church had been attractively decorated by girl friends of the bride, with howls of beautiful Jilies. Jonquils and asparagas fern were tucked into the ivory satin ribbon hows tied u-ro-uiul the pews. The bride entered the church on the aim of Air. W. Beattie, ol Woodlands, who gave her away. • .Her charming frock was ol ivory bridal satin, cut on classical lines. The angle-length skirt was gauged at the back, and fell into a, graceful long train, caught in three places with tiny lilies. The bodice was gathered above the waist to a point invthq- front of the skirt, and was designed with a heart-shaped neckline, the Initio wearing a small gold cross to finish it oil. The sleeves were full at the shoulder-line, and gathered into a point above the elbow, and then coining down tv ci .point over the hand, were finished with tiny buttons to the elbow. The beautiful plain tulle veil fell in billowy Colds from a* very attractive head-dress,. ’1 lie veil covered tlie bride's face, and was pleated on to. a top-knot of orange blossoms. Dainty plaited satin shoes were worn, and her beautiful bouquet_was of arum lilies and maiden-hair' fern, tied with folds of iv,ory tulle. (

In attendance as bridesmaid was .Miss Kathleen Caves, and the matron of honour was Mrs. \V. Young, sister of the bride. They wore charming frocks of lace over satin, one in peach and one im green, both redingoat styles with peter-pan collars, and covered lace, buttons halt-way down to the skirt, where it was open, showing the threei satin frills around the bottom or the petticoat. Belts from the waist-lines were caught with a horse-shoe of violets. The sleeves were ‘nil at the shoulders, and came to ft point at the wrists , with three covered lace i/ifttbriS" to fasten. Charming posies of violets and maiden-hair fern were carried and tied with peachgreen tulle and ribb&ns to match. 'J hoy wore matching tulle veils over the lace, held in place by m top knot of violets. Mr. H. G. Simpson and Air, AY. Young .supported the bridegroom. Alter the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Air. and Airs. AY. .'Beat-tie where some fifty guests wore entertained. Airs. Beattie received the guests wearing a smart teale- blue angora lroek and hat with a hip length mole cape and navy accessories. Her bouquet was of daphne, pink erica ami maiden-hair fern. Airs. Lovell, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy blue costume and navy-blue accessories with a fur stole, and carried a bouquet of violets and daphne. The tables were attractively -ch collated with iceland poppies, violets and fern. A huge wedding bell was suspended . over the bridal party and the hnmls.ome three-tiered cake

held place of honour. The usual toasts were- honoured and many congratulatory telegrams were read. Alusical items were contributed by Airs. J. Armstrong and Mr. IS. Pearce, Airs. W. Young acting as accompanist. - Mater the happy couple left by private car for /in extensive tour ol the North Island. Airs. Lovell travelled in a beautiful frock of mulberry panne velvet, with mulberry hat and shoes. Black accessories and a- lur • stole completed the outfit. Air. and Mrs. Lovell, whose future, home will be in Opotiki, /were the recipients of many beautiful and, valuable presents. . 1 - MANNIX—NOBLE. A quiet wedding was celebrated in St. John’s Presbyterian Church on .Friday, when Jennet Bachel,. younger daughter of Air. and Airs. H. ,!<. Noble, of Opotiki, was married to John Beauchamp, second son of Airs, and the late Air. J. Alannix. of Opotiki. Lev. A. C. Hampton performed the ceremony and Air. J. Puryer officiated at the organ. The bride entered the church on the arm of tier father, wearing a navy blue satin-backed mc-rocain frock, trimmed with gold. She- wore a royal blue niiion scarf, navy blue slices and hat,- with accessories to match. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Jean Mclntosh, of Auckland, who wore a frock of mermaid - cloqne, with .London tan shoes, and hat and accessories to match. Shoulder . sprays of orange and cream calendulas, with nandina foliage, were- worn by the bride and bridesmaid. The bridegroom was supported bv Air. 11. Toonc as best man. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Airs. No bio receiving her guests wearing a navy blue and white french morocain frock, a navy blue coat-, hat, shoes and accessories to .match. Her sho-uld-or-spray was of calendulas with naucliusi. foliage. Air. and Airs. J. Alannix later left for Rotorua. BASKETBALL DANCE

A dance, arranged in honour of the visit- of the Gisborne Basketball team was held in the \A oodlands hall on Saturday night, and attracted a very large attendance. Alusic was supplied by AlcDo-ugall’s Hot Scots, with an extra by Air. A. Wardlaw. The duties of AI.C". were carried out InMr. B. Fleming.
