Temperatures. • North Island temperatures at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning were: Auckland 57 degrees, Tauranga 56. Opotiki 50, Bast Cape and Gisborne 55, and Napier and Wellington 52.Seagulls Come Inland. For about half-an-hdur this morning, before sunrise, seagulls .came inland to the Opotild flats, in an almost unbroken flight, making a wonderful sight. Shipping. The m.v. Wa iota hi arrived at Opotild this afternoon after a long delay at Ohiwa, due to unfavourable weather and bar' conditions. The boat will probably leave for Auckland' to-mor-row afternoon. Cycilsi’s Narrow Escape. The carelessness of a van driver who swerved suddenly on to a footpath crossing in Church Street this morning in front of a. cyclist, might quite easily have resulted! in a. serious accident. The cyclist was knocked off his bicycle on to the footpath, and the van driver carried on, not the least concerned with what ho had done. False Alarm. During the thundstorm on Saturday niglit the fire siren sounded, and there was an immediate rush of cars, bicycles and pedestrians towards the fire station. The alarm was apparently set off 1 1 yi a flash of lightning. During the excitement, a collision accurreid at the intersection of Church and King Streets, hut no serious damage was done to the cars involved. Waimana Petfigree Jersey Sale. Attention is drawn to the sale of pedigree Jerseys to take place on the farm of Fleming, Waimana, on Thursday next 29th. June.
