WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

MEETING AT WAIOTAHI •The monthly meeting of the AYaiotahi Women’s Institute was held on Juno 7tli., Miss M. Du Pontet presiding. After the reading of the Aspirations and the institute Song, correspondence in connection with the coming Pan-Pacific Association Conference was held. The Golden Thread “Personalities of- the Day” was given by Miss B. Du Pontet, o-n'Melen Keller. A roll call, “A sea trip I’d like to take” brought interesting replies. An Irish song by Airs. O. White was enjoyedl, and community singing of sea shanties proved entertaining. There was an exhibition of beautiful sea. shells from Opotiki beaches, which are to be sent to the link in Hensall, Gana'da. . The monthly competitions resulted as follows: Jar of flowers for effect, real or artificial Airs. P. Lopoicy and Mrs. L. A r . Looney (tie) 1. Article-from yard of print: Airs. L. V. Looney- 1. Best vegetable: Airs. P. Looney (lettuce) 1, Aliss Neil.sen (tomato) 2. Best Bloom: Aliss Al. Du Pontet (chrysanthemum) 1. Afternoon tea was served by Ale-s----ilames Anderson, Gate. Wagner and Aliss Neilson. The singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon to a close.
