AN APPEAL TO SPORTSMEN i - Sir, —Would you kindly grant me a little of ,your space to appeal to Opotiki shooting sportsmen during the coming season. It will be remembered that last year, local sportsmen, while on the warpath for game birds, nearly cleaned the district out cl: hares, this rather spoiling the season from the point of view of "•huntsmen, who prefer to follow the hounds in pursuit of a lively hare. May. I suggest to shooters that they show their sportsmanship by leaving the hares silone and thus helping to make theseason for huntsmen a better one. It was probably only forgetfulness that , resulted in the demise of so many Fares by shot and it would; be a gracious act if gimsmen would help along: ' a Lind red club. HURDLER.
