The second tournament cast us • * - *i . pjynpy;, but as a public body, and' a non-profit making concern, we can afford the loss. v,. In the expenditure will be noticed items marked sundry expenses.- These included transport, car hire, suppers etc. for visiting sportsmen, and . are inevitable in such a club as ours. There is one item which should be mentioned and that is that of our obligation to the Commissioner of' Taxes. This should be met as it falls due after each ‘tournament, and evasion is likely to cost the club much more in the long run. Incidentally fihe onus of non-payment of this item-falls upon each member of the club alike, and in the event of non-payment-, being proved! by the Commissioner, itTwould be a debt upon all" members. I like to thank all-members for their co-operation, and wish the -incoming committee every success for the future. in conclusion I would like to appeal to all members to assist in the raising of our membership. This can be dene by co-operation, and as our cause appeals to all sports, it should not be ‘difficult to raise our numbers to the 100 mark in.such a sporting communitv as Opotiki. *•.
