CROQUET
VISIT TO GISBORNE A party, comprising members of the Opotiki; Citizen’s Croquet Club, motored last week-end to Gisborne for an inter-club game, but owing to. weather conditions being unfavourable, this could not be completed. Showing great enthusiasm, the Gisborne ladies, anxious to meet the Opotiki players, invited them to meet them at their cl ill) loom, where a royal welcome and a sumptuous afternoon tea awaited them. During the afternoon the weather showed signs of lifting and members of both teams commenced friendly games but were unable to finish them owing to rain again setting in, after about an hour and a-half’s play. The Opotiki team then left on the return trip, carrying with them the Gisborne members’ very best wishes i.ca? a safe journey, and a pressing invitation for a return visit next season. The Opotiki visiting ladies were: Alesdames Stevenson, Palmer, Tabb, J. Parkinson, H. Parkinson and G. L. Dav.
