GREETINGS CABLEGRAMS
As a further development of theEmpire rates scheme, and with view to fostering the exchange of ‘‘social communications within the Empire, ail Empire greetings telegram, service will be introduced on Ist. May_ This service will be available all ‘theyear round at* a uniform rate for messages exchanged by cable between New Zealand and all Empire countries, except for the present, Canada, India., Burma, Eire, Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, and’ Trans jordaniii. The service is not-, of course, applicable to those Limp ire points to which the existing rate for. any category Of telegram from New Zealand is below sd. a word, i.e. Australia, Fiji and Norfolk Island. The rate is ss. for 12 actual words, and sd. for each word over 12. They must be entirely social messages, that, is they musfbffgpnsist of greetings,, family news or * ’nen-eommercial personal affairs.
On Ist. May, the diay of the introduction of the new service, each member of. the public who so desires may send one free telegram up to 12? words. AYord.s. in excess ct 12 arc permitted, but will be charged for at; SJ. a word.
