GARDENING CIRCLE The monthly meeting of the W.D.FU. Was held at Mrs. J. McGregor’s residence at Wood laud's recently. Mrs. MlcGregoc (president) presided over a. fair attendance. Apologies were received from absent members. A. discussion followed on shrubs, and variousways of growing from cuttings. Mrs.. W. Lowe distributed seeds from a yellow poppy, a distinct variety, each, member to report on liow .she succeeds.. Mrs. A. E. Martin, secretary 'of the circle, then distributed' daffodil bulbs, each member receiving three (all named varieties), sent for out of circle funds. The competition for the best bloom resulted: Mrs. McGregor I,' Mrs. Martin 2. The judges for t-lie flower coin petition were: Messrs. J. McGregor, S. Maxwell, A. E. Martin and WLowe> who were accorded a vote of thanks. Mrs. Barbour was the winner of a jig-saw -puzzle. Members strolled around the garden and greatly admired the beautiful dalil ias, chrysanthemums, begonias: the very pretty shrubs, and fernery. Mrs. McGregor distributed various plants and cuttings from shrubs and bulbs amongst members. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mrs. and Miss J. McGregor, after which Mrs. W. Lowe proposed a vote of thanks to the hostess for her hospitality and the use l of her home, and the meeting closed with the singing of “For They are Jolly Good Follows.’ 7 The next meeting will he held at Mrs. Maxwell’s residence.
