In addition to' that, the construction of an overheads bridge on the Gisborne side of the Kaiteratalii Hill, toi obviate the level railway crossing - ’ ; there, is a work that is scheduled for a further contract, pi'obably before the bitumen work on t-lie, three miles of road is completed.

The three-mile stretch of bitumen for which tenders are being called will, extend ,the sealed road-to approx-, iinately one mile .beyond the river bridge at Kaiteratahi, and will terminate at Scott’s. The Kaiteratahi Hill will be omitted from the contract, because improvements are contemplated there, in addition to the proposal to build) the overhead bridge. iElarth work and metalling in preparation for the sealing of the road is expected to commence during the winter. Much work in building up the road will be recpiired •/ it will be ready for the bitumen/ but it is expeetedi that the contract should be completed during the coming summer.
