SINCLAIR—BROWN |" ! _i__. ;S;C, '■ : * A tery pretty wedding was solemnised in St. John’s Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, 11th. April, the contracting parties being Margaret Catherine, eldest daughter of Allr. and Mrs. E. J. Brown, of Waimana. and George Raymond, fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sinclair, of Opotiki. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Stuart,, of Taneatua, and Mrs. J. G. Murray played the wedding music.
The bride 100-kecl c-harming in a cream satin frock with tiglit-fitting bodice gathered in front >vitli buttons from neck to hemline, the skirt falling gracefully into a train. A fine net veil was warn with a circlet of orange blossom round the head. The bride carried a shower bouquet of white cosmos, crocus and white berries. The bridesmaids were -Miss- Jean Brown, sister of the bride, and Miss Phyllis Sinclair, and each wore gold shot, taffeta, slim fitting bodices with ■puffed tucked sleeves and Jong skirts widening from hips to liem-line and carried bouquets of golden chrysanthemums. Little Miss Pamela Clarke, cousin of the bride, made a charming flower girl dressed in net over white satin carrying a dainty basket- of flowers. She carried also the bride’s train. The bridegroom was supported by his brothers, Messrs. J. A. and R. H. Sinclair. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Wattle tea-rooms,, the tables being decorated with gold coloured chrysanthemums. The guests wore received by Mr. and l Mrs. Brown, parents of the bride. Airs. Brown was wearing a navy frock with cryclamen froufr and carried a bouquet toi tone. RIX—PEOPLES An Easter wedding of wide interest was celebrated in St. Alary’s Church oil Alonday. when Alargaret, third daughter of Air. and Airs. D. G. Peoples was married to Reginald ALervyu Rix, third son of the late Air. and Airs .Rix cif Gisborne. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away, wore a charming gown of ivory satin sheer following an exaggerated princess liife with heart shaped neck-line ornamented with two dia-mante-clips on each side. A deep fitting shirred girdle and a. billowing skirt. forming a train. The long tight-fitting sleeve was finished by a shirred shoulder line. She also wore a treble string of pearls. Her bouquet was of white be! la-donna liilies. She wore a long white veil with a halo of orange blossom. The bridesmaids were Aliss Laura Peoples, sister of the bride, and Aliss Violet Merry. Both wore frocks of magnolia silk net and matching underslips of satin sheer, which were made with a tight-fitting bodice, heartshaped neck, puffed! sleeves, and very full skirt daintily finished with large rosettes of satin ribbon around the hem and smaller ones on the sleeves. Their head-dress was a halo of silk magnolia net trimmed with tiny scarlet. flowers. They carried bouquets of scarlet amaryllis and maidenhair fern. They each wore a string of pearls. Air. Desmond Lysaght acted as bestman and Air. Don Abbot as groomsman. After the ceremony, a reception was held at- the Wattle tea-rooms, where Airs. Peoples received the guests wearing a black tailored frock o! all-wool
novelty crepe-die-chine. \ A Tjie happy couple later left for Wellington, Airs. Rix choosing as her travelling outfit a black fitting costume, black hat with high crown and veil, with hand-bag ' and shoes to match. GOOSEAIAN—KELLY A quiet wedding took place at St. Miiry.’s Catholic Church on Saturday when Iris Alary, daughter of Air. and' Mrs. AY. AL Kelly, of Opotiki, was married to- Colin George Gooseman, of Hamilton. The Rev. Father Brady performed the ceremony. Tho bride, who y r as given away by her father, .wore « simple costume of cream wool, aiid a black breton sailor hat with a black aiid white spotted veil and matching accessories. 'She carried a prayer book. , • In. attendance as matron of honour, was Airs. Shorn Kelly, who. wore mauve with navy ' blue accessories. She carried a mauve bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by Air. Les. Kelly, as best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held at- the AVattle tea-rooms, where Airs. Kelly received tile guests wearing a sienna, rust frock with hat.and' shoes to match. She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted miniature dahlias. The bridegroom’s present, to tho bride was a silver fox fur, and to the matron of honour, a Alorocco handbag. The gifts included many cheques and costly gifts. The bride travelled in a ' mauve frock and black hat and accessories with fur stole. The happy couple left for a four of the North Island.
