Drivers’ union. A meeting of the Drivers’ Union will be held in the union rooms in the Guardian Buildings, on Sunday next. Farm to Lease. A small dairy farm for lease, is advertised in to-day’s issue by -Messrs. Bunkall and Murray, from whom full particulars may bo obtained. Air Travel popular. On its second trip- to Gisborne the Union Airways’ plane arrived .at- Darton Field with a full load; of 12 passengers, nine being from Auckland, two from Tauranga and one from Opotild. Scarcity of Eggs. Eggs are reported to be scare throughout the Dominion and prices are very firm. One reason for the scarcity is the high cost of fowl food, which has resulted in a- reduction in the number of fowls being kept. Life Members. At the annual meeting of the Hunt Club on Wednesday night. Messrs. F. J. Short and J. T. Tab-1 > were elected life members. Mr. C. T. Clark, who p-ut forward the motion, spoke of the invaluable work performed by both of these members in securing concessions for., the club from the Bay of Plenty Pacing Club. Trophy Alteration. The following correction in connection with ther ecent school sports has been handed to the News for publication : “Tho trophy presented by Mr. F. J. Short for competition on Wednesday, loth. March, was n won by F. Clayton ,cf Waiotalii, who gained most points in the 100 yards' open, 220 yards senior, 440 open, 880 open, high jump and long jump.’’ Old Horse’s Record. The 20-year-old gelding, Two-step, owned and trained by Mrs. Colin Merrill; of Otorohanga, in winning the championship jumpers’ event- at the recent Cambridge Show, for the third time, set the seal on his- fame as one of the best-performed show ring horse's in the country. Two-step has been jumping in the show rings of the North Island! for the past- 19 years, and is. still going strong. He has now won a cash sum of £1970 and a room full of cups and trophies’. Angler- and the Press. A high opinion of the New Zealand press is held by Mr. Michael Lerner, leader of the American Museum of Natural History, big-game fishing expedition . which recently left- A uck Ia nd for Sydney. “C am afraid to give an interview in the United States--! never know what will appear in the paper afterwards,.” he said. “The way you chaps over here write and the way you can turn a- rambling statement into news without distorting any of the facts ‘gets’ me, I will take away with mo a-good opinion of your newspapers.”
