Not 58 was celebrated in the Lodge Room last night when visitors fiom the Taneatua Lodges were present, The evening took the forjn of a banquet, interspersed with items, and after the banquet dancing was enjoyed. During the evening Bro. J. J. Butler, p.B.G.AL, of Taneatua, took the opportunity ol presenting Bro. J. Elliott with a veteran’s jewel, a present from members of the Opotiki Lodge. Bro. Butler referred to Bro. Elliott’s long servic'd in the Lodge, into which he was initiated forty years ago at its opening meeting. Since that time Bro. Elliott had held many responsible offices in the Lodge. ' '•>' , .A beautiful birthday cake, bearing forty candles, was lit by Bro. W. Hallam, N.G., who also cut the cake. Music during the evening was supplied by Sister Williams, while a competition was won by Aiiss Joyce Webb. The following ...toast list was honoured, Bro. C. Wylde acting as Alaster of Ceremonies :—• “The King”. Grand Lodge—Proposed by Bro. W. G. Reece and responded to by Rro. C. Wylde. Opotiki Lodge—. Proposed by Bro. Barr and responded to by Bro. A.
