OBITUARY
MR. CLAUDE D. JENKINS ..The deatli has occurred at Aiaketu. or Mr. Claude Devonport Jenkins* after a long illness. Mr. Jenkins' was born, at Herne Bay, Auckland, sixtyeight years ago. After completing his education he was engaged as a surveyor, and was associated with much of thei survey work in the Maniakn district. Over forty years ago he took up a large block of land at Pongakawa, which he farmed till three years ago, when he sold the property and retired to live at Alaketu. For some years Mr. Jenkins served on the Taurauga County Council as one of the representatives for Maketu Riding. He was also a member of the Hospital Board and the Pongakawa School Committee. He possessed a very kindly and sympathetic nature and was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of stress and need. He is survived by Mrs. Jenkins and two daughters, Airs. H. B. Wilkins, of Pongakawa, and Airs. J. A. Aleliarry of Gate Pa, also three brothers and’two sisters,,one of whom is' Airs. W. R. Lorry, of Morrinsville. The funeral took place at Te Puke on' Wednesday afternoon.
