CARDEN PARTY _* 4The members of' the WaimanaNukuhou . Gardening, _ Circle of the Women’s Institute, entertained the members of the Awakeri Gardening Circle, at. a garden party, which was |ield at the home of Airs. J. AlitclielJ, Waimana., last Wednesday afternoon. The weather was perfect for an out-of-doors function. 'lhe afternoon was also- the usual monthly meeting of the Wai raana members. The president, Airs. Jerram, welcomed visitors and members, after which the secretary read the minutes for the previous meeting. The competitions t for the loth. March meeting are: exhibition dahlia, and an attractive salad. During the afternoon, clock golf was played and crazy croquet; Airs. Miller winning both. Other competitions were won by Airs. A. K. Bell and Airs. Lynch (Taneatua). The dainty afternoon tea was served beneath the .shady trees on the lawn, and Aliss Hoo-le entertained with much aprpeciated vocal items,., and Aliss Ngaire Alitchell tap-danced very lyAll enjoyed a walk around the wellkept gardens and lawns, after which Airs. Caisley, on behalf of the visitors, in well-chosen words, thanked all for the very pleasant- afternoon spent by alj, and hoped Waimana members would be able to visit Whnkatane sometime in the future. Airs. Jerram thanked Al-'rs. Alitchell for the use of her pretty garden for the party, and for the pleasant time spent by all.
Ci FT AFTERNOON A most pleasant afternoon was spent at the home of Airs. N. Clark, Nukuhou North, last- Thursday, it being a. gift- afternoon for Aliss Georgina Spauhake, who i.s to be married' shortly. Games and competitions were held out-of-doors on the lawn, Aliss E. Doran, and Aliss P. Cranswiek being among the winners. A well-thought-out “Alystery Parcel” caused much merriment. After a most delicious afternoon tea had been served, Al'rs. Clark in a neat speech asked the guest of honour to come forward and accept the many beautiful and useful gifts from all present with their best wishes. Aliss Spanhake suitably responded, thanking Airs. Clark for the pleasant afternoon and all for the lovely gifts. All joined in. singing “For She’s A Jolly Good Fellow,” which closed 1 a most enjoyable afternoon. Those present were:— - »■ Airs. N. Clark. All’s. AI. King, Airs. P. Lobhev (Waiotahi). Airs. R.
