EXCAVATION IN TURKEY
INTERESTING D 1 SCO VERY LONDON, Jan. 12.—Excavations in an old mound at Mersin, South Turkey, by a. Liverpool University' expedition uncovered: remains of a fortified city with astonishing architecture. The city is believed to date back to 3600 11. C. its gateway was hanked by towers, and its defensive wall was pierced with a range of narrow windows. The city had been burnt while it was occupied. The relies include the remains of a palace complete, although they- are badly binned and broken. *
