A Strange Tow. \ party of Gisborne motorists had an unusual experience recently. fbe ear broke a. back axle in the Waiocku Gorge, and when the breakdown van arrived it was found that the only way to. tow the ear was to hoist the rear end up and to tow it backwards on tlit- 1 front wheels, which "ere locked to keep them in position. The party also had a. trailer, andt' tni.s had to he taken from the rear of the ear and hitched to the front. As many ol the party.as possible were'accommodated in the tab of the breakdown van, but the remainder had viie unusual experience of sitting in ti.oir car while it was towed back wards loi 2.-j miles through the WaiocUa Gorge. The sight of the car being towed backwards with the trailer was an unusual one for Opotild people, who stooped to look at the strange procession as it passed through-the streets.
