WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT The following report was presented by the works committee at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council: — Fifty-five chain of footpath grubbed free of weeds and rubbish carted' away. 130 chain of footpath sprayed with sodium to stop growth. (5 chain of concrete footpath completed in Kelly Street. II chain of concrete footpath completed in St. John Street north. 6 chain of path sealed in St. John Street. Footpath sealed in King Street 36ft. x 12ft. Footpath sealed in Church Street 66ft. x 12ft., also portion of Church Street. Footpath East of Church Street, North of Richard Street, concreted 32yds. x 4. Wharf yard also around office has been sealed one coat. Water service installed 1 Church Street and Wharf Street. Water service repaired .sandhills. Water main repaired Hospital Hill and meters cleaned. Two new meters installed. Five blow-outs in main, repaired. Fire plug raised and extension fitted St. John Street. New crossing put in Church Street 14ft. New crossing put in Princess Street alsoi path sealed across road to reserve. Around base of grand stand reserve has been sealed. New cess pit built in St, John Street. New grate fitted at wharf. Premix made at yard also metal screened. 21ft. of concrete kerb in Church Street, premix etc. benzine ramp. Intersections swept also concrete paths. Door .runners repaired at wharf. Ragwort lias been sprayed in borough. Fence repaired south side of reserve. Concrete landing repaired at wharf, new slab of concrete laid ,12ft. x 3. Wai~ tangi Park, cemetery, footpaths, etc. h kept mowed. Various streets, inter-' sections have been patched and graded. Highway bridge Street scarified, metalled' and rolled. General maintenance carried out. Propose to start on the highway, Church Street, on the 6th. February (Monday).
