AIKEITIXC; OF COAIAMTTEE At the meeting of the School Committee' held on Wednesday evening it- was decided to .make application to the Education Board for the use ol tlu> Methodist Hall as an extra room to relievei the main school where the attendance in the primary department is now 350. As no relief workers will be available for work in the school grounds shortly it- was decided to employ a man until other arrangements can he made.
It was decided to accept the tender submitted' by local workers lor tarring and sanding work, and to proceed with the work. 9'he headmaster’s report showed that out of seven candidates sitting for the Matriculation examination six were successful. In some subjects pupils secured' <0 per cent.. H(l per cent, and 90 per cent, while in one subject a boy gained 100 per cent, marks. The committee congratulated the headmaster and staff and expressed its appreciation that night classes would be started at the 9'celiuical School at a small charge. A new cleaner for the school was appointed and it was decided to place on record appreciation of the work ol the previous cleaners. The-* committee received with regret the resignation of Miss .Lovett and placed' on record appreciation of her services. A letter from the Education Hoard authorised the appointment of Mr. E. L>. H. -Merry as an assistant. Itelieving teachers appointed were Mrs. A. Davidson and Miss G. M. Bur re if.
