Court News. At the' Opotiki Police Court, yestcrdav before Messrs. J. 9 . Merry and U Pipe J’s. P.. a man with a “list” was charged with being found drunk and also with being an idle and disorderly person. Constable prosecuted on behalf of the police and stated that the accused 1 came from Gisborne to Upotiki on Saturday night, staying at a boarding house. He was walking aheut the streets making a nuisance of himself by bailing everyone up. He was arrested on Wednesday altcrnoon in a very drunken condition and had been going around with a file asking peoplo if lie could sharpen their knives etc. II his request was refused the accused became very annoyed. He had been warned by Constable Cooper and told 1 to get out of the town. However he had stayed. The accused pleaded guilty and said if he were given a chance he would get out of the town immediately. 9he bench convicted the accused on both clmrge<s and lie was ordered to leave the town within four hours, otherwise he would be further dealt with.
