PICNIC AT OTARA

A SUCCESSFUL CATHERINC A pleasing departure from its work-a-day activities was .made oil Saturday byi the Upper Otara. Settlers’ Association when, acting upon the. happy thought of some of its members, it was responsible for the revival of the old-time Otara Picnic. Air. K. Jirown’s property, just beyond the school, where so .many of the picnics were, held in years gone by, was again the scene, of the gathering on Saturday. Mr. A. A. Campbell, president of the Settlers’ Association, was in charge, together with other members of the executive, Messrs. Athol Gordon, Shand Karp, Clem Black and Cecil Gordon. The ladies who assisted Mrs. Campbell with the catering and arrangement of prizes for the sports events included Mcsdames K. Brown, Shand Karp, Clem. Black, M. McKillop, Bat Black, Athol Gordon, A. Horton and H. Henderson. The Association was fortunate in securing the services of Mr. Hector Gordon (Opotiki District High School), as handieapper.
