ANNUAL MEETING OF GARDENING CIRCLE The annual meeting of the Gardening 'Circle/ of the Opotiki W.D.F.U. which was held recently took the form of a happy little social evening held at Mrs. A. El. Martin’s residence, Woodlands. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted in 3lrs. McGregor being elected president and Airs. A. E. Alartin secretary. A pleasant evening was spent with games and competitions. A mystery parcel donated by Mrs. Burgess wag won by Airs. Pennell, who was also the winner of a competition. Another competition was won by Airs. Ash. As the result of a competition for the handsome birthday cake donated by Mrs. Guthrie, Airs. Hollard was announced as the winner. A dainty supper was served and brought a pleasant- evening to a close.

THE MONTHLY AIEETING The monthly meeting of the circle was recently held at the residence of Airs. Lowe, Otara, when Airs. AlcGregor presided over a good at-ton-el-an ee. The usual business was dealt with and it- was decided to hold the next meeting at ALrs. S. E. Webb’s residence and also to hold a garden party at Airs. G. Shalfoon’s residence in Alarcli. It was also decided that bulbs to the value of £1 bo purchased and distributed amongst the members/ Competitions resulted as follows: Mis. Dodgson 1, Airs. G. Shalfoon 2 and Mrs. AlcGregor 3. Mrs. H. Ash was the winner of another flower competition. The points prizes for the year, resulted in Airs. AlcGregor gaining first place, Airs. Alartin second and Airs. Maxwell and Airs. Lowe (equal) for third place. A particularly dainty afternoon tea was served after which members enjoyed a stroll about the delightful garden.
