OPOTIKI STOCK SALE EAT COWS IN DEMAND Messrs. Dalgety and Comapny Ltd. report having held their monthly stock sale at the Opotiki saleyarqs on Friday, when a large entry of all classes of cattle came forward, also several pens of sheep.
Eat cows were in good demand although there were practically no very heavy cows offered. Potter bulls were' yarded in more than average numbers and sold under keen competition at prices more than favourable in comparison with recent rates. We quote : Eat cows, to £5 os; lighter, £3 15s to’ £4 15s- good store cows, £2 los to £3 10s; boners, £1 10s to £2 10s; bulls, heavy and in good condition, to £5 ss, others. £2 10s to £4 10s; a line of 18 Jersey heifers were not iii demand and a pen of fine quality well grown heifers were passed in at £3 15s. Aged fat ewes realised a satisfactory figure of 7s (id. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Cb. Ltd. report as follows : We had a full yarding of cattle, chiefly, dairy sorts, which sold under good competition at late rates. The yarding of sheep was a small one. Prices realised! were. 4 and 6-tli fat wethers 19s; small lambs 5s 6d ; dairy cojvs, springing, £4 2s 6d, to £5; fat cows, £5 5s to £5 15s; kiliable cows, £4 12s to £5 Is; good store, cows, £3 12s to £4; boner cows, 30s t 0 £2 12s ; 2 and 3-year steers, had celtiurs, to £4 ■10.3; fat bullocks, to £10; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 10s to £4 os; heavy potter bulls, £5 to £6; lighter bulls, £3 7s to £4 6s.
