WARMER UNDERWEAR

CHIC AND COMFORTABLE

WOOL FABRICS COMEBACK

PARIS, Nov. 23.—Alter a gap of more than 20 1 years in which “long woollies” disappeared from the smart women’s wardrobe, wool fabrics have come into their own again in Paris.

Leading London houses, those to whom women all over the* world*, look for models, have modernised the- cut and use of wool, while manufacturers of fabrics .have played their part by eliminating the “tickle” from new woollens. Finer weaves and the combination of wool with satin have* .made it so that no woman need now, say that she would rather freeze* than be irritated by the itching produced, by now woollen “undies.”

Dexterous Cut. So, with more dexterous cut, closer fittings and more delicate fabrics, Paris has brought woo! back into the fashionable wardrobe. Lingeries of all kinds—as well as\ dressing gowns, house dresses, and afternoon wear, enable women to be chic and at the same time cosily warm. Even corsets are now made of wool reinforced with elastic. 'Lace trimmings have come, hack with the woollens, too. A recent fashion show of winter ’ models revealed /nightgowns' of wqol trimmed with lace and satin, ' line wool petticoats edged with satin, and woollen lace negligees and indoor gowns edged with satin. On the other hand, the lounge pyjamas shown wore plain in design, but looked extremely comfortable. Most of them wore tailored designs.

Transparent Wool. Transparent wool voile and wool muslin word 1 the favourite fabrics for lingerie at this show. Warm “undies” for town wear were made of a weave of flannel and an elastic-like fabric, while woolbacked satin is the fashion with woollen sports clothes, which this year are more popular than ever. Brighter and brighter colours are the mode for winter sports wear in wool, and there is a trend towards wool, and towards warm colours for walking, riding and golfing outfits in wool.
