FORTNIGHTLY PIG SALE y .. INCREASE IN RATES Aiessrs. Dalgety and Company Lim'ited . report having resumed their fortnightly pig sales, the first safe taking place at the Opotiki saleyards on Monday the 9tli. instant when a very good yarding came forward and a full bench, of buyers operated with a result that prices improved slightly on recent rates. Porkers and store pigs were very keenly sought after and sold at prices considerably in advance of most schedules.. We quote the following prices as being indicative of the mling rates: — top weight, £3 13s ; medium, £3 os to £3 10s; lighter, £2 17s to £3 4s; porkers, to £2 12s; others, £1 19s to £2 10s ; large stores, to £2 16s; other buttermilk pigs, £1 18s to £2 9s; smaller stores, £1 15,1 to £1 17s *6d; slips, to £1 10s; weaners, 10s to £1 2s 6d; choppers to £3 15s. The New Zealand Loan and Alercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows AY© had a. very full yarding of pigs in all classes, which sold well under keen competition. Baconers, porkers and store pigs all show an advance on late rates. Good slips were easier while weaners were not in keen demand. AVe report a total clearance of our yarding. Prices realised were : Heavy prime baconers, £3 8s to £3 12s; heavy baeouers, £3 4s to £3 8s; light baconers, £2 IBs to £3 3s; heavy porkers, £2 12s to £2 16s; lighter porkers, £2 8s to £2 11s; large store pigs, £2 to £2 '2s; small store pigs, £2 2s to £2 8s; smaller sorts, 35s to £2; good slips, 25s to 30s; weaners, 12s 6d to I9s; choppers. to £3 15s.
