OBITUARY
REV. ROBERT FERCUSON V- ' - Advice lias been received of the death in Glasgow, at the age of 76, of the R ev. Robert Ferguson, a Presbyterian minister formerly well known in Auckland and in Invercargill. Air. Ferguson came to New Zealand from Scotland 48 years ago. After his return to Scotland lie continued in the active ministry until liis retirementsome eight years ago. He is ’survived by his wife. Airs. Gilbert Allirray, Opotiki, is a daughter.
AIR. T. E. TONEYC’LIFFE « A large and representative gathering of the citizens of Gisborne attended yesterday morning at’ the Baptist Church to pay their last tributes and attend the funeral of the late Air. T. E. Toneycliffe, who was well known in Gisborne and who has relatives in the Opotiki district. The business section of the community was widely represented. The pall-bearers included representatives of many organisations with which Mr. Toneycliffe had shown a keen interest. From the church to the hearse they were: Alessrs; Gordon Hamilton and Arthur Hamilton, nephews of the deceased; Messrs SClare, O. Tattersfield, Charles Goldsmith and L. Alarkie, all elders of the church with which lie had been associated. From the hearse to the cemetery t-lie pall-bearers were: Air . Adam Wilson, Gisborne Rotary Club; Air. A. Langford, Lodge Turangnnni; Air. C. Blackburn, Poverty Bay Bowling Club; Messrs. C. V. Harre, S. V. Tait- and- J. Crawford, members of the staff of Alessrs. Petties, Limited.
'The late Mr. Toneycliffe had a controlling interest in the well-known firm of Alessrs. Petties, Limited.
