PPvKSKXTATION TO SKCRKTA itV ■■ryy.swJ At the general ineeting of the local branch of the Labour Party on Priday evening, opportunity was taken by the vice-president, M’r. A. McDonald, to make mention of the splendid services rcmlcrcd to the party by their energetic secretary, Miss Nell Johnson, whose marriage is shortly to Lake place. Mr. McDonald expressed the feelings of all members in stating that M'iss Johnson’s services had been invaluable- to the party and he was pleased to- loa>rn. he added, that her marriage would not necessitate her resigning her position, lie then called upon Miss Johnson to accept a handsome cheque from members of the local branch of the party, and' extended the good wishes ol all lor her happiness and Mr. Hodman’s in their future. In reply. Miss Johnson said that any service she had rendered had been in the interests of the party and had given her great pleasure. The presentation came as. a complete' surprise and she charmingly thanked tin* members for their kind thoughts, and exuressioils ol good will.
