OBITUARY
FATAL SEIZURE IN BUS .FORMER OPOTLKI RESIDENT Taken ill suddenly when returning to Puha, frojn Gisborne on. Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Daisio Rostgard, - aged 50, died'later in the'afternoon jjt her home. The deceased had been in. Gisborne mil dity doing her Christmas shopping, and left Gisborne in the 4 p.m. bus for the country. Mrs, Rostgard was, attended by the district nurse, Miss Jamieson, To Kara ku, and taken, to her home, but failed to recover from the effects of the seizure.
It is understood that) no inquest will be necessary. ‘-T
The late Mrs. Itostgard was born in Opotiki and spent most of tier life here. She was in bqsiness in Opotiki for a number <>f yeru J s, and then lived in Fiji and Gisborne.' She conducted a business in Gisbornd for some time. Her health, however,' had not been of the best and she moved to Puha. a short time ago hoping for- an improvement. A. daughter,’ Mrs. W. F. Kennedy, resides m Gisborne, The funeral took place at Gisborne on Saturday.
DEATH IN HOSPITAL MIL CHARLES PEDERSEN \Y ELL-KNOWN MILLER Following an operation in the Cook Hospital late on Friday morning, a. well-known resident and mill manager of. Matawai,. Mr. Charles Pedersen, aged ,50,. failed to' railly and died. The deceased Was a married man and leaves his and, five children to mourn their loss.
Mr. Pedersen was widely known in the timber industry, having been associated with the late Mr. Thos. Quirk in mills at Mlotuhorai and Te Wera for many years, during which time be servcjl Mr. Qhirk, and later the linn of Quirk mull SqnH, as foreman and manager. Four years ago. he entered into partnership with Mr. E. W' i I limns, and conducted a mill for Messrs. Williams and .Pedersen. All expert bushmail and l skilled miller he knew the high country behind Poverty Ihiy intimately, and Fiis knowledge was I rcqueully availed of by those' in the other brunches of the timber industry.
