INFANTS’ CHRISTMAS TREE PLE AS INC! LITTI, Id F U NCT lON A happy little function was. held in the giounds of the headmaster’s residence or- Friday morning’- when infant pupils of the Opotik.i District High School gathered*at the invitation of the school committee. Arrangements were in' charge of Aliss Lovett and’ Mr. A. E. Payne, chairman of the committee, extended . Christmas greetings, to the small.pupils and expressed the hope that they wouid enjoy happy -holidays. He then introduced Father Christmas who were his traditional rohcs> and was very warmly welcomed hy the children. He presented .each child with. a. gift iron.' the heavily laden Christmas tree, and nt the conclusion there were some 100 very happy little people who Jiad each received' a gilt. A charming little play enacted hy the junior girls of the school was greatly appreciated by the infants and their parents who were also present.

OMAIO SCHOOL CONCERT

A very successful concert by pupils of the Omaio School was presented in the Omaio Hall on Wednesday hist. There wa s a good attendance and the varied programme ol items was greatly appreciated by all. A welcome was extended by the headmaster, Alf. I lanilyn who I hanked those present for their patronage. Tilts prograjnmo included several poi dances and action songs contributed by, the senior girls who were attractively dressed in .Maori costumes. At the conclusion, of Llie entertainment: . a dainty supper was served ami Ilu> remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. Among those present were:—
