FORTNIGHTLY PIC SALE . KEEN* DEMAND SHOWN Messrs. Dnlgoty and Company -.Limited report having held their usual fortnightly pig sale at the Opotiki sa leva ids on Monday when an extra heavy yarding of all classes ol pigs came forward. Bidding was brisk in most lines ami bacon showed a slight advance on late rates. Porkers were keenly sought after by the local butchers whilst buttermilk and: store pigs were in good demand. Weaners were not wanted unless they were very good and well grown. We. quote the following prices : Top weight baconers, £3 Ids; others, t:i 7s to £3 Os; medium. £3 to £3 ss; lighter, £‘2 17s to £3; porkers, to £2 8s; lighter, £2 to £2 fjs; large stores, to £2 2s; others, £1 15s to £2; slips, II (is to £1 12s; choppers, to £3; and maiden Devon sows account Mr. Geo. Neilson, Opotiki, to £1 for two. and two others '3*| guineas. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report ns follows:
We had a very large entry of pigs in all classes. Small weaners were not wanted hut all other classes sold well. Heavy baconers and porkers showed an advance oil late rates. Good buttermilk pigs and slips were also keenly competed for. Our next sale will he held () n Monday. January !).
Prices realised were : Prime heavy baconers, £3 4s to £J Os ; heavy baconers. £2 Ids to £3 Is; lifjjltt baconers, £2 12s to '£2 15s; heavy porkers, £2 to £2 Os; light porkers, 35s to 38s; good buttermilk pigs. £1 18s to £2 (is; store pigs, 3(>s to. 30s; choppers, £1 IPs to £2 8s; slips. £1 8s to 30s; best weaners, to 1.8 s; small sorts, 5s to Bs.
