Mitchell, Waimana, last Wednesday. Apologies were received from several .members lor their absence. The minutes of the previous meeting were read h\ the secreta rv. Jt was decided to forward an invitation to tile Opotiki and WamtaliL gardening circle to join with Waimana in a. picnic to he held at .Mrs. Jerram’s on January 20, and also to> entertain the Awakeri gardening circle oiii February Bth. at .Mrs. Mitchell's home. The Roll (Mil, “Hints on Vegetable (jrowing,’’ was well responded to. A competition, guessing the names ot a collection of leaves, was won by .Mrs. King. The day’s competitions were:--Three best roses; Airs. Mitchell I, MTs. H. AYnrdlniw 2. Posy of AVild Flowers: Miss StansI>u rv 1. Mrs. Stevenson 2. Mrs. Al itcljell 3. After supper had been served by the hostesses, Airs. (!. Wylde, and Airs. H. Wardlaw. the members spent a pleasant half-hour cult in the garden. The beautiful bed of roses was much admired and the vegetable garden wa« in first-class order, not a weed to lie. loiind anywhere. At the conclusion of the meeting a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Alarm, who acted as judge and to Mrs. .Mitchell. for the pleasant afternoon spent bv all.
