GIFT AFTERNOON Last Wednesday at the residence ox Mrs. Guy Bodmin, Hospital Hill, a delightful gift afternoon was given in humour of Miss Nell Johnson pn the occasion of. her approaching marriage. The drawing room was effectively decorated for the occasion in shades of orange and green, with vases of marigolds and begonias to tome. Miss Johnson was the recipient of some very beautiful and useful gifts. Mrs. Guy Hbdmin spoke on behalf ol those present, and Miss Johnson suitably replied. CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL A HIGH SUCCESS THE AY A 1 ALAN A SCHOO L 'f'he Waimana Hall was the scene ol a very bright and jolly evening last Friday, it being the \\aimnini sehoolchildien’s fancy dress hall. Tlie children in their fancy costumes made a very bright scene, all looking most attractive, the mothers evidently having spent many hours of patient effort over the making of the costumes and were well rewarded lor their efforts. The folk dances given by flu children received great applause. A ‘ wait/, tap” given by ten of Miss Jv. Walton’s pupils, a “skipping dance” by Joyce Hodgson, and a tap dance by little Nola. Bust, were greatly applauded. The teachers of the school,. Mr. K. Bell, and Aliss J. Alii lor, deserve every credit for ’ the performance and conduct of the children during the ing'.rile Grand .March and dance music was played by Airs. AH King,. Wardlaw, on behalf, of the School Committee, thanked all who had helped to make the evening the success it had! been, and tlie profits would go towards buying gifts for tlie children, to he distributed at their picnic, to he held at the beach in n lew weeks’ time. Stott a very jolly dance which was attended by the wedding guests and additional gnosis. was hold in the Lyric Hall. A splendid programme of music was supplied by the Electrotoue Orchestra with extras played by Aliss N. -Goddard. Air. J. Davis and Ai.'r. B. Parkes. A novelty dance was won by Airs. H. Manning and Air. J. Frost. 'l'he function opened with the Grand Alarch led by the bride and bridegroom, followed by other members of the bridal party.
