OBITUARY
MR- RICHARD VANSTONE The death took place yesterday afternoon at his home, of Mr. Richard Veinstone, in liis 75th. year, after a long illness. The late Mr. Vanstono, arrived in Opotiki about 43 years ago and has been one of the most successful dairy fanners in this district. At the age of 20, Mr. Vanstono came to New Zealand from Devonshire, England, and took up his residence in Dunedin where lie was engaged in butchering tor about twelve years.
Air. Vanstone lias, been a prominent member of the Methodist Church in Opotiki for many years. He is survived hy his wife, four daughters and Jive sous. 'l'lie daughters are. Airs. Dennis, who resides, in Klugland; Airs. Anderson, of Port Chalmers; Airs. Walker, .of Noirth Auckland, and Airs. James tYmmg, of Opotiki. Tin* sons are, Air- Ambrose Vanstono, Air. Marty n. Vanstono, Mr. Claude Vanstono, Mr. George Vanstono and Air. Wilfred Vanstome, all of Opotiki. 'There are 22 grandchildren. The funeral took place to-day, the* Rev. W. IT. Wilson reading the burial service. MR. W. N. COUCHLAN The death took place at Auckland on Saturday morning of Air. W. N. CoiighInn, who for many years was headmaster of the Omaio Native School. Air. Goughian took a leading part in affairs on the Coast, and was highly respected h,v the Coast residents. .Deceased was •> Justice of the Peace. Ol recent years Air. Coughlnu has been engaged in farming near Auckland. He leaves a wife and adult family lo mourn their loss.
