GIRL MISSING 10 YEARS
LONDON, July. 20.-r Determined to .show hoi- parents that she conic} make good without any help, pretty 15-year-old Lily Bone left her homo in Blast Terrace, Gravesend, , one morning 10 years ago- She never returned. Day alter day her mother sat at the window, waiting, .wondering. Police searched the district without success. .Months became years. The other day Sirs. Bone found » letter on the mat—something familiar m the handwriting caused her heart to leap. “It’s from Lily I” she cried to her husband, as she tore open the envelope ,“my Lily after all . these years—she’s coming back.” At her cosy little home in Stewarts road, Battersea, with her 18-month-old baby, Maureen, in her, arms, Mrs. Lily Burnett told the reporter hotf she found her happiness. “When. 1 walked out that Sunday morning 1 was determined to prove 1 could do well on my own,” she said. “1 stayed for a year at a job in Bnl- . ham, then I went to a. hospital in Landor road, Clapham, as a maid, and through a girl friend’s introduction met Jolni Burnett. We fell in love a:, first sight, end within two yearr ,w- le married. “To help things along I worked as a waitress in an Oxford street restaurant, lmt luuli to leave when little Jean, who is now five, was born. “I’ve managed to find where my mother is living. Next week we are all going down to Gravesend for a grand reunion. . It will be wonderful—1 can hardly wait for the day.”
