'• GREAT CAST SPLENDID IN “WELLS FAK-«' If yoii’ve ever wondered why the stage coach has such a hold on the human-imagination; if you want to know -why the world never tii'es of hearing ’ the story of the winning of the West, if you want to see as heroic, beautiful and inspiring a romance as you’ve; ever seen, then go to the De Luxe theatre and see “Wells Fargo,” which opens there to-night. Here is one of the most brilliant romances ever screened. Based on the opening of “America’s Lifeline of Fmpire,” the trail which linked the Far West to the Eiast in early gold days, the narrow ribbon through desert, forest, plain and mountain over which adventurers, soldiers, settlers, heroes and scoundrels passed for mere than twenty-five years, “Wells Largo” i s a cavalcade of greatness which it is : everybody’s business to see, whether he’s looking for history, a love story, comedy, thrills or inspiration. Tlie story is built around the express business as founded by Wells and Fargo shortly after gold was discovered in California. Its hero is handsome Joel MfcCrea, trail-breaker and man of vision, its heroine is charming Frances Dee, who marries the bold adventurer and then, unable to understand him as bis work carries him farther and* farther away from her, finally leaves him. It’s a bold and beautiful romance in which the greatest part of a family’s life and fortunes are followed and which acts as a leit motif to tne grand symphony of the builders of empire. The cast is brilliant and does an excellent job. Particularly noteworthy is the performance of Bob Burns. This gentleman, whoi has heretofore confined his talents to comedy of the “homespun” variety, plays the role of a scout and proves in the playing that he is a great artist. You’re going to remember Burns as the philosophical scout, tor a long, long time. Others in the brilliant cast are Lloyd Nolan, Henry O'Neill, Mary Nash, Ralph Morgan, John Mack Brown, Porter Hall, Robert Cummings, and hundred’s of others. “Wells Fargo,” a Paramount Picture, was directed from a story by Stuart N. Lake by Frank! Lloyd.. It -is 4. masterly job, done with ronsmnmatc skill and artistry. It is one of the screen’s truly great pictures. See it by all means!
