In the absence of the chairman, 1 Mr. Burretf was voted to the chair, r The chairman’s report of the 1938 conference held in Wellington was J read by the secretary. In referring to a portion of the report, Mr. Dicker l stated that in the event of a reduction ! in bulk, charges the reduction was to 1 bo used for reticulation of sparselypopulated areas- So far nothing had been done. The engineer’s report was then read by Mr. Dicker and both report's were approved. Extended Cut-off.—A member referred to the inconvenience caused by a recent cut-off when the period was extended. Mr. Dicker explained that the P.W.D. telephone system had broken down and a long walk had' been necessary before it was' possible to put the power on again, witli safety. A report on the recent engineer’s conference was presented by Mr. Dicker and adopted. No Tags.—The balance-sheet as presented was “settled.” ,
