OTARA MONTHLY MEETING
The Otara W.l. held their meeting in The Otara. Hull on Tuesday, presided oVor by Mrs. A. J. McCall ion. After the usual business had been disposed of, and two new proposed, the chair was taken I»y Airs. J. ,l). Fisher, of the Opotiki Institute whlth provided the exchange programme.
Tlio roll call “Tilings I used to do when Alother was Away”. brought fortk some very amusing replies. The main offences proved to lie cooking and wearing mother's clothes. Airs, do Allontnlk gave a most interesting taik on Fiji, dealing mainly with the colour of the Islands, especially the flora. A demonstration by Airs. Burrett on floral work was much appreciated and songs by Mrs. J. Shaw and; Alins K. Al array'gave much pleasure. An amusing reading was given liy Airs. Short. A musical parcel was won by Airs. 11. Vanstone, and Miss Neilson came lirst in u competition. Miss Butler secured first in the .Iceland poppy competition, A dainty afternoon tea was provided by the hostesses, Mesdnines P. Black, J. T. Ualmet;. A. Vanstone and Al'iss Ncilsou. A hearty vote of thanks to the visitors and the singing of the National Anthem concluded an enjoyable meeting. OPOTIKI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The monthly meeting of the above Institute was held on Saturday evening, October <SII I . Mrs. Fisher presided over a large attendance of members. Tin* institute song was sung, and the creed recited, alter which the secretary, Alias Ncilsou, read the minutes of the previous meeting. A small amount of business was dealt, with. Arrangements were made for the billeting out of members ol Hie blind concert company, which'is on four, and will again come before all Opotiki audiences at the end of the month. Mrs. Beattie read a report on tlu> Federation meeting held at, Waimana on September 2Htli., at which she and Mrs. K, Alaxwell attended as delegates. Solos were rendered during the evening by Miss Salt and Miss "K. Aturrny. Miss Sydenham and Alls. Murray acted as accompanists.

A demonstration by members ol the health ami beauty class under the leadership ol Airs. 11. O’Sullivan was thoroughly enjoyed, Mrs. Hampton supplying (he music. Two new members were enrolled and {riven, a welcome. Tim hostesses for Liu l evening were Alcsdames Holloway, A. Short, and .Jeffrey. The singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant evening to a close.
