G- Cochrane, of Paeroa and Airs, S. Yeoman, of Wlmkutane, were recent visitors to Opotiki on route to .Unukokore on a holiday visit. NOVEL AND POPULAR DANPE

The Hayseed dance, organised by the mourners of the social committee of St. Stephen’s Church, and held in the Waiotahi tlall on Monday night, proved a novel and popular function. Many humorous and appropriate costumes were worn and the decorations of greenery and llowers included nmusiiig sketches typical of the occasion. 'There was a large attendance and dancing was enjoyed to music .supplied by the Kit Kat Orchestra with a popular extra by Mr. Wardlaw. Novelty dances were won by Miss K. .Jephsou and Air. J. inskip and ALiss Margaret Borrio and Air. G. Fraser. Mr. B. Anderson carried out the duties of M.C. in‘a capable manner. A dainty supper was served by the Indies and dancing was resumed until a late hour. Among those present were:—
