MEMBER’S CAMPAIGN
ADDRESSES IN' GISBORNE DISTRICT In continuation of his election campaign Air , Jtluitquist visited \\ aimata Vaiiey last Thursday attenioon, ana met a numbey of ladies in the hall, addressing them briefly and after- V wards joining them in afternoon tea. in tiie evening the member spoke to, a large gathering of electors in the Alnkauri school, the number present being more than on any previous occur sion on which he has spoken at this place. Air Hoilever presided over the meeting, and in welcoming Air Huitquist paid a tribute to the work lie had done during his three years as member for the district, and expressed tlie wish that the electors would re- ' turn him again with-an overwhelming majority on the loth, October. During the greater portion of the evening those present were permitted to hear the Rt. Hon .M. J. Savage's policy speech from Wellington, per medium of ai radio set which was installed in the school room, and at the conclusion Air Hultquist addressed those present briefly, as also did Mr G. R. A. Whiting, the candidate’s Coast organiser, who was on a brief visit to Gisborne assisting Air Hultquist at his meetings. At the end of the meeting no questions were asked, and a vote ofi thanks and confidence in the Government and Air Hultquist was curried unanimously, the mover and seconder of- the motion being Messrs C. Pearson, and J. Aliddleton. Friday Air Hultquist was scheduled to address meetings at Okitu at 10.30 a.m., Tatapouri at 2.30 pan., and Whangara in the evening.
