GARDENING' CIRCLE- -

The monthly meeting of the Gardening Circle of the Opotiki Women’s Institute was held recently at thy home of Alirs Burton. Although .the weather was unpleasant. a most en-. joyable and instructive afternoon was spent. There was a goo,d, .attendance of members presided over by Airs Forbes. Aliss Bostoclc, of Auckland, was present and demonstrated the uses of different types of flowers in floral work. Aliss Bbstock said that fuschia and hydrangea were especially useful in all floral work. She also demonstrated the making of a very dainty posy. The competition for a flower girl’s head-dress x-esultcd in several very dainty exhibits, Aliss E. Bridge gaining first prize. Aflrs Merry i and Aliss E. Bridge >vere tlig winners of the competition for three best flowers. The Roll Call was “Aliy Favourite Vegetable and its Culture”. It was decided that the competition for next month he a posy and three best (lowers, with the Roll Gall “Favourite Fruit and Culture”. The place for the next ejecting has not yet been arranged. A vote of thanks to Airs Burton and Miss Bostock brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
