TOURNAMENT POSTPONED x TE‘ AWAMUTU CONTESTS" 1 The announcement that the Opotiki Boxing Association’s tournament which, was to have been held to-niglit, will be postponed until’ the 1 end of September, will be received with regret by many boxing T.h<3 postponement was caused through the indisposition of one of the boxers in the professional bout.. The local hoys met with little success on tlieir recent trip to Te Awamutu, where they took part in a tournament. '“Battling” Snell lost to W. Ryan (Te Awamutu) on points, receiving severe punishment. However, he was successful in winning a very fine cup for the gainest loser.
Lai. Dennett lost to Maravitch (Morrinsville) on points in a 4-round bout, which was very even and inter-
esting. J. llohinson lost to Des. Craig in a 4-round contest which proved ithe best bout of the evening. The decision
was Craig’s by a narrow margin.
