APPOINTMENT. OF MANAGER
PIG COUNCIL SUPERVISOR
Tile supervisor for the Bay of Plenty: District Pig Council, Mr D. G. Beattie, has resigned his position to undertake the management ( of the Opotiki Dairy Association’s pig .farm. The operation of a pig farm is a new venture on the part of the Dairy Association. Mr S. M. Jephson’s contract: for the supply of buttermilk from the factory has expired, and the Dairy Association has taken over Mr Jephson’s interests so far as the breeding of fat stock and plant are concerned. The farm is.- on the company’s property. In his new position, Mr Beattie will continue to interest himself in the pig chili.; movement. He was one of the foundation, members of the first pig club.’formed- in the Gisborne district, and lwas instrumental in the formation of more than 70 clubs ill the Bay .of Plenty, Rotorua and Poverty Bay areas.
Th.o Dairy Association will continue to l’flise and dispose of the pedigree breeding stock taken over from Mr S. Jephson, and purchases of high elassl blood stock are to be made. Some' of the pig club breeding sows have been selected from the farm, giving very satisfactory results. Purchases on behalf of individual pig club members and farmers also have been made., from this piggery.
