When the rivers were bridged it was hoped that the difficulties of getting the cream to the factory would be over. The manufacture of finest butter, considering all the difficulties, reflected great credit on the manager and staff. The chairman congratulated those suppliers who had done their best to send in the best article. He also referred to the appointment of Air Wilson Scott as dairy instructor for the Coast.

The motion was seconded by Air C. W. Fairweather and carried unanimously.

In formerly moving the auditor’s report, Air N. W. Oliver, of the Native Department, brought an apology from the Registrar of the Waiariki District Maori Land Board and also greetings from the Native Trustee. The report was adopted.

The three retiring directors, Afessrs Wiremu Arihana, l’aora Ngamoki and Te lvuaha Waititi, were re-elected unopposed. The retiring auditor, Air O- N. Campbell, Native Trustee, was reelected. The meeting recommended that a committee be formed to go into the question of revising the articles of association. DIRECTORS’ REPORT The following report was presented by the directors : Final Payment. —After making provision for depreciation etc. the accounts show a profit of £3986/4/1) out of which the . directors recommend a bonus of one ■,penny- three-farthings per pound butterfat over the whole season to participating, shareholders. Output.—Despite the unfavourable weather conditions experienced during the year and particularly during December last when it was impossible to get some of the cream in to the factory, the output shows a decided increase. reaching a total of 280 tons, an increase of 11-ll per cent, over the! previous year. Disposal. —This is now in the hands of the Primary Products Alarketing Department. Plant and Alaohinery.—This is in good working order and quite up-to-date. It is gratifying to note that with new plant the manager has been able to turn out a finest quality of butter.

Payout.—The sum of £25126/1/has been advanced against butterlat supplied representing; an average payment over all grades of 11.682 pence per pound. Payment for finest has been made at the rate of 1/- p (, r pound. With the bonus’ payment the total payout for the season equals 13.432 pence per pound butterlat over all grades.

Retiring Directors.—The retiring directors are Messrs Wircmu Arihana, Paora Ngamoki and To Kualia Waititi, and being eligible offer themselves for re-election. Balance-sheet. The balance-sheet showed that the. sum of £25,126 Is had been advanced to suppliers- The cost of cream collection was £1194 9s 3d. The total cost per pound butter fat to t.o.b. was 3.101 pence. Export sales realised £29,958 17s 9d and local sales amounted to £5,551 IP's 4d. Sales of butterihilk brought in £43 10s. The auditor’s certificate stated that the weight of butter made from each pound of butterfat used for the manufacture of butter was 1.21441 b. No unsalted butter was manufactured. The statistics showed that the number of suppliers was 134. Pounds of cream received totalled 1,342,060. The average butterfat test of cream was 38.46. The overrun creamery . butter made was 21.44. while the average grade of the butter was 91:94. The cream grade percentages were: finest 39.736, first 52.114, second 8.150.
