MOTOR CARS COLLIDE

EXTENSIVE DAMAGE NO SERIOUS INJURIES " A collision between two motor cars topic place on the bowling green corner, -which, on account of the high hedge on the corner is a particularly dangerous one. A ear driven by AliGerakl "Watson, a farmer of Waiotalii, which was proceeding in a southerly direction along Church Street, was struck ou the left hand side by a car driven, by Air Julius Aleier, a farmer of Whakatane. which .was travelling in Ford Street in a westerly direction. The collision took place at aliout- 4.20 p.m. Air Watson's* car was pushed sideways for some distance across the street and was extensively damaged, the chassis being badly bent. Air Aleier’s car, which received the blow in the front was not damaged to so great an extent. Wlieu Airs Watson saw that- the collision was inevitable she pushed the baby, which she was nursing, towaids Air Watson, but the force of the impact threw both Air Watson and the baby on to the road. Fortunately only scratches were received. Airs Aleier who was the only ether occupant of Air Aleier’s ear struck her forehead against the* windscreen and received injuries to her mouth which was cut by her teeth. . She was admitted to hospital. Considering the severe blows the cars received it was fortunate that- nobody was injured.

COLLISION ON COAST ROAD SCHOOL BUS AND CAR. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY A collision on a narrow spot on the Coast road about- 2UO yards on the Opotiki side, of the Waiaua bridge took place yesterday afternoon. The vehicles involved were a school bus driven by Mr Joe Hata, and a car driven by Mr John Huriwaka of AVaiawa. The ear was the more extensively damaged and although school children were in the bus no one was injured.
